Meet Suanna
Suanna Lynn was born and raised in the Midwest, spending time in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Chicago. A writer from childhood, she is influenced by many musical genres—the mountain music her dad used to play, singing along to the Judds, Dolly Parton, and Shania Twain with him in the car, and the beats and vernacular of pop music. Whether it was a broken heart, a rowdy night out, or inner-city ministry work, whatever Suanna was experiencing and feeling, she always sat down to write a song about it.
A woman of faith, Suanna grew up in a loving home that instilled in her from a young age the importance of God and family. While living and ministering in downtown Chicago, she saw some of the darkest places of the human heart, which have informed her writing and her insight into life’s journey. Ultimately, she balances small-town values with an urban spine, and that fusion comes through in her music. Since moving to Nashville in 2016, Suanna has written with touring artists, shared the stage with hit writers and performers, and hosted songwriter rounds on iconic stages, including the Grand Ole Opry.
“I believe that with any ability comes great responsibility. I have been given the gift of song, and it is my obligation to use my microphone to give back to this world and give a voice to the voiceless,” Suanna says. “I long to let my music be an instrument that makes someone feel like they’re not alone in what they are going through. We’ve all been lost at times, and there is something about hearing a song and saying, ‘Me too’ that makes all the difference. The greatest joy is when I get to meet someone after a show who says, ‘Wow, it felt like you were singing my diary.’ Sharing that moment is what it’s all about. If my music makes someone feel like they’re not alone, I’ve done my job as a songwriter.”
Suanna lives in Nashville with her husband, daughter, and two golden retrievers. Besides writing, producing, and performing, she enjoys reading, working out, cooking, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, and finding a good wine bar.
